Introduction

We're encoding our clips in QuickTime format. You may need to upgrade your version of QuickTime to view them. Please check the links below for upgrade information.

Inability to view the trailer in no way reflects the quality of the the clip. When movies don't behave as expected on the web, it is often not a problem with the video. More often than not, the difficulty lies with broswers and how they interpret the code.

If you are experiencing difficulties, check our Possible Problems section.

Possible Problems

Scenerios Answers
I see a broken "Q" or a question mark. The video is either not present, or was corrupted during its upload. Contact the author of the page and ask them to re-upload the video.
The page is blank or it prompts me to install software. Test to see if QuickTime is properly installed

If you do not have QuickTime installed, download and install your free player.
I still see the poster, but I hear sound You need to configure QuickTime settings. To do this you will need to know your connection speed.

Test your Connection Speed and write down your download speed, then return to this window.

For machines running Windows XP:
  • Click START button
  • Go to Settings, and choose Control Panel
  • Double click the QuickTime icon
  • In the settings box, choose Connection Speed from the drop-down, and select your speed.
  • Click OK, and close the Control Panel
  • Refresh/reload the page with the video.

For machines running Windows 2000/NT:
  • Click START button
  • Go to Program Files, and choose QuickTime
  • Double click the QuickTime icon
  • Under Edit, choose Preferences
  • In the settings box, choose Connection Speed from the drop-down, and select your speed.
  • Click OK, and close the QuickTime
  • Refresh/reload the page with the video.
The movie does not play and clicking the poster does not work! Please contact our webmaster right away. Use subject: video problem on Magpiefilm.com. In the email, identify:
  1. What platform you are using (Mac or PC)
  2. Which operating system you are have (OS 9, OSX, Win98, Win2000, Win NT, Win XP
  3. What browser are you using? Opera, Safari, FireFox, Netscapre, Internet Explorer?
  4. Finally, what version of the browser do you have installed? Simply find your browser icon on the deskstop, right click with your mouse, and choose Properties on Windows or Get Info on Mac.
The webmaster will inform you immediately upon fixing the problem.
